VOCABULARY:

DIALOGUE:

A: I heard there’s going to be a holiday next week.

B: That’s right. The Harvest Moon Festival.

A: What kind of holiday is it?

B: It’s a seasonal holiday that takes place in autumn. People spend time with their families and eat moon cakes.

A: Well, have a great Harvest Moon Festival!

B: Thanks! Same to you!

WHAT IS MY FAVORITE HOLIDAY?

My favorite holiday is the BARRANQUILLA'S CARNIVAL.

what it is about?

During the four days of the Barranquilla Carnival, there are moments awaited by all, such as the Battle of Flowers, which consists of a parade of floats, troupes, dance groups and costumes. All this is presided over by the Carnival Queen, who dances and throws flowers to the spectators, while accompanied by a court of princes and princesses.

Something that makes the Battle of Flowers very special is that it is animated by the most traditional characters of Carnival mythology, such as King Momo, María Moñitos and the Cayman Man, who add flavor and rhythm to make you enjoy this event to the fullest.

Another key moment of the Barranquilla Carnival is, of course, its closing, when Joselito Carnaval, the most representative character of the party and the joy of the Caribbean coast, is symbolically buried.

At his burial, Joselito is mourned and symbolically buried by merry widows who celebrated with him the best of the Carnival.
